Meet the Instructors

Lance Byrd, M.S. is a Senior Software Engineer at ClearEdge IT Solutions, LLC., where he develops distributed software for Big Data problems. He earned his B.S. in computer science from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC) and M.S. in network security from Capitol College. He is also a ClearEdge Certified Hadoop Developer. Byrd enjoys teaching in academic settings as well as coaching endurance athletes. He teaches Basic to Intermediate Hadoop courses within the DoD community.

Daniel Hood, M.S., is a Senior Software Engineer at ClearEdge IT Solutions, LLC, where he leads a team developing distributed software for Big Data problems. He earned his B.S. and M.S. in Computer Science from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC). Hood has developed and instructed courses in both academic and professional settings across a wide range of topics including UNIX, data structures, numerous programming languages, object oriented programming, computer graphics, web development and mobile application development. He is a ClearEdge Certified Hadoop Developer and also teaches various courses within the academic, commercial and DoD communities.

Ben Butler, M.S., is a Senior Software Engineer at ClearEdge IT Solutions, LLC, where he develops distributed software for Big Data problems. He earned his B.S. in computer science from the University of Maryland, and an M.S. in computer science from Johns Hopkins University. Butler enjoys programming, and running several soccer clinics and programs, as well as coaching.

Refunds and Cancellation Policy

ClearEdge IT Solutions must receive a valid purchase order or full payment prior to the start of the course. The company reserves the right to cancel courses up to 10 working days prior to the published start date. Please consider this when making travel plans as ClearEdge IT Solutions liability is limited to a full refund of tuition only.

We recognize that cancellations are sometimes unavoidable. Participants who notify ClearEdge IT Solutions in writing at least 10 days prior to the start date of a course are entitled to a full tuition refund. Participants who cancel within the 10-day period before the course start date will be eligible for a 50% tuition refund. Participants who register and fail to attend the course are not eligible for a refund. Substitution candidates are acceptable if ClearEdge IT Solutions is notified of the change in writing at least 24 hours prior to the start of the course.

ClearEdge IT Solutions Training follows the Federal Government schedule for closures due to inclement weather. In the event of inclement weather on the day of a scheduled ClearEdge IT Solutions Training, check local news reports for cancelations, contact the ClearEdge IT Solutions office at (443) 396-1259, or the ClearEdge IT website at www.clearedgeit.com/training. Training will be rescheduled if canceled due to inclement weather.
